Dreaming by the sea can become a successful business. From a legend to TheHouseOfThoth, our creative direction and vision created the Hotspot of the Apulian West Coast.
HOW IT STARTED:
In 2019, Pasquale Coppola envisioned transforming a piece of land he had inherited into a place to be shared — a destination where beauty, culture, and imagination could come together. The project was initially called Laguna: a conscious yet captivating space designed to transport guests into another dimension. The atmosphere would be bohemian, magnetic, and a little bit magical — but the ambition was always greater than creating just another beach bar.
During the research phase, a remarkable discovery reshaped the vision. In 1932, a statue of the Egyptian god Thoth was found in the sea near the very coastline where this land rests. That extraordinary coincidence sparked a new narrative and a deeper identity. Laguna evolved into Thot Porto Cesareo — The House of Thoth — inspired by the imagined journey of this ancient deity traveling across time, space, cultures, and civilizations, only to find its home once again in the breathtaking landscape of Salento.
From the very beginning, authenticity was essential. The goal was to create something contemporary and iconic while preserving a strong Apulian identity. For this reason, the entire structure of Thot Porto Cesareo was built by local artisans and companies, based on a design by Architect Egidio Muci and Interior Designer Gloria Colazzo. Landscape designers Studio Paz contributed by planting more than 180 trees and restoring the native flora, enhancing the natural beauty of this coastal paradise.
In the summer of 2023, Thot Porto Cesareo finally opened its doors to the public. Just one year later, The House of Thoth continues to evolve, steadily becoming one of the most talked-about destinations in Puglia.
Conceived as an Experiential Sunset Bar, Thot Porto Cesareo is more than a venue — it is a journey. Every detail has been curated to create immersive moments, inviting guests to step inside, disconnect from the ordinary, and lose themselves in an atmosphere where nature, design, and storytelling merge into something unforgettable.
